Luke & Lucy Intimate Home Session

Home sessions are, to me, an honest way of documenting connecting that two people have. There’s nothing more intimate than being in your home; your comfort zone and safe space. You home is where you can be completely yourself. There’s no expectation other than to relax and just be. I think that’s why, to date, this is one of my favourite shoots I’ve ever been a part of.

Luke and Lucy are kind souls. They’re smiley, cheerful and always up for a laugh. They have this raw, and down to earth chemistry that’s unassuming but very present in the way they interact. We shot in this beautiful cottage in the Blue Mountains called ‘The Artist’s Retreat’. It was a home built for creatives to spend time there to relax, breath and be inspired. It’s incredibly homey with so much beautiful afternoon light flooding in from all directions of the house! Not to mention the ferns in the front from made you want to just sit there and read ALL. DAY. LONG.

I think being inside a home also makes some people relax a lot more. It makes sense, as some people are homebodies and being inside is a more real version of who they are than being dressed up and walking around the hills. I told these guys to just “be at home” and instantly they relaxed and chatted away, flicking through books, rolling/jumping around on the bed and all I had to do was just soak in and document what they were showing me…
